30 days of night
Based on a graphic novel this film took vampires back to their roots in a sense (which is back to being the villians). Surrounded by nothing but land covered by ice and snow the last sunrise comes down for the rest of the month (thus the title 30 days of night). what the people there don't know is that this is when the vampires planed to return to the world and feed on them for the first time since i don't know but a really long time. With the feel of a horror film (well it is a horror film) this film proved to be good until it revealed the vampires which is the biggest no no of any horror film. Never reveal the monster because it kills the suspence and this film did just that. Although the vampires were scary looking they just was more scary when left to the imagination. This was probably done because it was based on a graphic novel and seeked to be loyalted to it but it did destroy the mood half way into the film. It still managed to be good and I liked the language the vampires spoke in (it would make sense that if these vampires just now woke up after being a sleep for centries and being among themselves that they would have their own language). It was a good idea and refreshing to see these vampires as they were originally intended to be the villians and for a part of the film it did manage to be a horror film as well.
