Hate Crimes at SB?

So my brother was just watching the tv and told me that Stony Brook was on the news. I thought maybe Stony Brook got some academic award, but I was wrong. Stony Brook University was on the news for hate crimes. Wtf. Has anyone heard about this? Maybe since I commute I didn't really ever hear of anything. Maybe my brother made it up, who knows. But, I did see a news 12 car on campus yesterday, maybe that had something to do with it.
