schwarz und weiß!

Germany are heading to South Africa for the World Cup next year officially! So happy about this. I love the German team and hopefully they'll find the win they deserve there. My (short) history supporting the German team started during the World Cup in 2006, and since then I've seen them only once in person during a Euro 2008 qualifier in Hamburg, (which they won, thank you very much) but my support for them has grown substantially over the past three years...

I'm half-German, and for most of my life I honestly didn't even recognize this part of my heritage. I focused on my British heritage and it wasn't until I took notice of the German national team that I started to open up to and explore this part of my family history. It seems silly that a football team could be the thing that made me finally take notice, but it's the truth!

And now I'll listen to this, which I have vivid memories of singing along to with tens of thousands of other supporters of the German team:

Food Shopping

I just went food shopping, i mean a full food shop in order to have all the ingredients in my new house at school as i would at home.  living in an Italian household, certain things like garlic, oil, chicken, sausage, cheese, and bread are essentials. I never realized how expensive things were and how much i took it for granted how every time i reached into my refrigerator or snack cabinet at home, there was always something for me to pull out. $126.34 later, i felt that i had everything i needed so i wanted to get to the stove and make a meal of my own. From the day i was born, it was mandatory to be home for dinner, therefore i gained a great deal of knowledge in the kitchen and have some skills with an apron on lol. Pasta with broccoli, chicken, garlic oild and mozzarella was dinner tonight and it brought some good memories of being at home.
