My room mate has a newfound obsession with KidRobot collectible key chains. What is KidRobot you ask??

KRbt is a producer and retailer of designer toys, featuring imports from Japanese and European artists ranging from Mike Shinoda of Lincoln Park to Jaime Hewlett, creator and artistic director of Gorillaz. In store toys range from 2 to 2 thousand dollars!!

Luckily for Steve, ebay.com has sellers from all over the net willing to give away their rare KRbt figurines for under 5 dollars. He's bought a total of 10 figurines, but here are some of my favorites.

The other night before heading off to the opera, my friends and I decided to play a short game of shards. It was my first time and most likely my last…

Eli, the theatre major, was the only one who was any good at the categories we stuffed into a hat. Even though the only thing cool about this video is the lighting, cheek out this video and try to guess what he's acting out. The video is only about 40 seconds long so put your game on high speed!!

When 80% of the students attending a university are studying Biology, Psychology, Chemistry or Sociology, it isn;t often that true musical talent is showcased on a large stage. However, I was invited to an event hosted by C.O.A.L.I.T.I.O.N., a student organization devoted to the promotion of on campus talent, diversity and the absence of racism.

When the music began to play, I was quite apprehensive. All I can remember asking myself was "why is this girl singing a country song?" This will definitely be something LESS than interesting. Well, shame on me for passing a premature judgment! This girl's voice was so sultry, so seductive, so….just check it out!!

Top Ramen!

There's just something so appealing about Ramen, especially on one of those studying marathons.

IT'S QUICK, IT'S HOTTT, IT'S EASY!!! (an it doesn't carry any venereal diseases)

My roommate and I both have 10 page papers to do and decided to break into our newly purchased case of Top Ramen noodle boxes. I mean the only negative thing about Ramen is the sodium content, which is retie extreme, but can be taken care of with a large glass of water.

The Arsenal

Over the summer, I interned at the Arsenal, a multipurpose loft space devoted the promotion of independent artists in the Brooklyn and greater Manhattan area. During this time I worked as a marketing representative and successfully coordinated art shows, gallery hangings, 2 pop up shops and a small indie music soiree.

Work was far from easy… Marketing takes hours of patience, lots of web interfacing (FBK, MYSP, Going, Blogger, etc.), but it was more than worth it, because nowadays marketing is all about who you know and how well you can network. Through working at The Arsenal I had a chance to meet Alysson Cambell, a VP of marketing at Warner Bros. studios who I'm hoping likes me enough to either give me a job or a stellar internship.

Murakami vs. LV

When well-respected graphic designer Takashi Murakami collaborated with Louis Vuitton, the fashion/arts community was sent a buzz. Mostly known for his seamless combination of pop culture and high art, Murakami creates sculpture, wallpapers, paintings, large-scale instillations and film. Previously Murakami has worked with Kanye West, Kirsten Dunst, MOMO, MOCA (in LA), and droves of other high art venue.

The result: Jovial, Kid-Robot reminiscent prints that give Grandma's staple LV print a kick in the pants. Of course, these bags cost upwards of 5000 dollars…but a girl can dream ;-)

Sylvia Ji

When I first met Sylvia Ji it was at Home. No, not my home, but Home restaurant tucked away on the Lower West Side. No we weren't friends, but owe our meeting to a mutual acquaintance. When she said she dabbled in some painting, I assumed she painted as a pastime…NOT AS A PROFESSIONAL PAINTER.

About a month later, I accidentally ran into Ji again….accept this time she was hung on the brick walls of Gallery Bar located on Manhattan's Lower East Side. I was blown away by the color mixes and soft textures that are quite opposite, but fairly reminiscent of works by Frida Callo.

Daft Punk Says "Boom Clackkk!!!!!"

French director Michel Gondry has gotten his twisted little hands around a French film, commercials and music video direction and was even given an Academy Award for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind starring Jim Carey and Kate Winslet.

Recently I watched the video for "Around the World" by Daft Punk and was immediately mesmerized. Basically, it's a complicated dance sequence featuring mummies, astronauts, robots (?) and a super sparkly stage upon which they all revolve. It's kind of hard to describe, but check out the video!!

Bjork <3

Bjork is and forever will be my favorite artist. Singer, songwriter, poet, producer, philanthropist…there is no aspect of art that Bjork has not pursued, conquered, and redefined. Born in the late 60s, this Icelandic superstar has been contributing to the indie ether for decades. The Sugarcubes, an Iceland based rock group marked her first mainstream contribution in the late 80s. Fast foreword to 2009, the songstress has released upwards of 20 albums not including greatest hits, various EPs, and a large and abundant handful of remix albums.

It's ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE for me to pick out a favorite song or album from her plethora of material.

Recently my a cappella group, the Stony Brook High C's was invited to perform for COALITION, an on campus student group that promotes on campus talent as well as artistic diversity. We decided to open with our super talented beatboxer, Amit Bhowmick. When I say super talented, I mean AMAZINGLY talented!! I've never understood how professional beatboxers are able to imitate real instruments so well. Even more, How do they make 2 noises at once?? Legends like Rahzel or Dokaka simply cannot be given the name beatboxer…these beatmasters deserve the title of BEATINNOVATOR.

Converse Jams

Cheap & Colorful is how I like it.

Converse footwear has never failed to provide the fashion foreword with retro pedigarb that yields a recession friendly price tag. Desperately in search of something spectacular to wear for my birthday, I stumbled on Converse Jams. This mini collection of shoes, released early last year represents the vivacious and in your face attitude of the 1980s hip-hop scene. orally priced 80 dollars and up, my roommate introduced me to bay. I still have my reservations about this Forbes 100 website, but I did find these pumps for a measly 40 bucks!

I can't wait to wear them =]

I'm Lovin' It?

About 2 weeks ago, my PC crashed (and burned).

To prevent further calamity, I apprehensively decided to go Pro with a sleek and travel appropriate 13.3 MacBook. It took some getting used to, but I'm certainly getting used to my little Mac =].

Lightweight, Speedy, and not so Affordable, Macs in general are an investment. The most inexpensive MacBook rinse you an average of 300 bucks more than a standard PC. And now with NetBooks, the price gap has grown even more.

If you're looking for a new computer, try out a MacBook and see how you like it before you buy one…just to make sure you don't absolutely hate your brand new 1200 gift.

Lily Allen gets MASSIVE

Singer Lily Allen's second album, "It's Not Me It's You", was overall a mediocre compilation of ballads that simply did not compare to "Alright, Still", Allen's first album that topped the charts with songs such as "Smile", "LDN" and "Alfie." "It's Not Me It's You" debuted with "The Fear", an expectedly snarky single that is unfailingly catchy and is on par with her previous material.

On a recent tour of the all powerful Hype Machine, I discovered a mashup of Allen and ambient, trip-hop legend, Massive Attack. Yeah…weird combination...

But does it work???

Surprisingly, YES. Massive Attack's signature downtempo beats and grimy melodies contrast well alongside Allen's birdlike soprano. If you don't believe me check it out for yourselves.
