Radiohead is one of my favorite bands , for a long time now , they have made many cds and are able to change with the times..
not selling out , they have their own style. Their not followers , or sellout to pop. They speak their mind and i def can relate.
They speak in maths that you have to solve . its not always on the surface , which makes for good music because it makes you
think. I have never seen them in concert , hopefully one day. You ever listen to a band and feel what their taking about and its
sort of relieving that memory or feeling. Radiohead's music is very abstract , its like a painting or a sculpture. :)

when songs define our lives
it's hard not to listen to them over and over again.
and does it help heal whatever we're going through when this happens? To know that it has happened to someone else? I guess. I still feel terrible in some respect, but it does make me feel like I can get through this, instead of wallowing in boxes of Entenmann's and creating imaginary voodoo dolls in my head.
life goes on, & music will be there to console us and then kick us back into action.

Nomadic
2.Do you still live with the parents?
No. 3 Years ago my parents relocated to Dallas, TX. During the school year I live on campus, visit the folks for a couple holidays and live with friends over the summer. I consider myself nomadic
18.If you could have a camera on you at all times would you?
a)No. I'm not so much a fan of taking pictures. I thik its a family thing. There was never emphasis on digitally recording life. There are actually very few pictures or videos of me as a child, my parents or even my grandparents. This is what mad the comic so difficult to complete.
32.Do you make your own form of sharing?
Yes. Every weekend my friends and I exchange music we've discovered as I give them tips and tutorials on the best ways to pirate on campus. My connection to the indie and the underground is held intact by siets such as Hype Machine and Rcrd LBL.
44. Does your cell phone boost your ego or make you feel more lonely?
I am in no way a narcissist, but I must be very important to many people because my phone is always buzzing off the hook. Sometimes I want t smash my phone, but as a marketer/event planner, such an action would be social suicide.
118. If your body is a brain what part of your body do you like the most?
Get back to me on this one...

barriers
When I heard one of my favourite songs of the year, Medina's Kun for mig ("Only for me" in Danish) was being remade into an english version to be released in the english speaking world, I was excited that the Danish singer would get recognition she deserves outside of Scandinavia, but I was saddened that a song I found to be perfect the way it is had to be changed just because of a language barrier, for the most part.
I've always loved listening to music in other languages, even if I couldn't understand a word of what they were saying, and what I've come to realize is that many people around the world still listen to songs in english and are the same way. In dominant english language cultures though (at least the two I've lived in), it's a longshot to see a song in another language do well. I find this a testament to our inability and disinterest as a culture to look outside of our own culture and explore something new. It makes you feel quite lazy when you realize that so many people around the world speak english (and other languages) with ease, and I think a lot of it stems from their openness to music and films from other cultures.
Anyways, here's the english version and the danish version of Medina's single:

Daft Punk Says "Boom Clackkk!!!!!"
French director Michel Gondry has gotten his twisted little hands around a French film, commercials and music video direction and was even given an Academy Award for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind starring Jim Carey and Kate Winslet.
Recently I watched the video for "Around the World" by Daft Punk and was immediately mesmerized. Basically, it's a complicated dance sequence featuring mummies, astronauts, robots (?) and a super sparkly stage upon which they all revolve. It's kind of hard to describe, but check out the video!!
click it like it's hottt.

svenne...banan?
so I found out today that this Swedish group, Looptroop Rockers, are touring the US later this year. This is crazy to me because they seem so localized within Sweden and one of the members of the group, Promoe, had a summer hit with a song called "Svennebanan" this year - the title means nothing really (except banan is banana in swedish, svenne doesn't mean anything!). Promoe and the rest of Looptroop Rockers are from Västerås, which is the city I lived in and they played a nightclub in town when I was there, so I feel an obligation to see them when they come through New York...
This was the song that Promoe had the hit with this summer:
When I saw this video for the first time I realized that loads of it was shot in Västerås and now that I'm back in New York I find myself nostalgic watching it!

What was missing from "With a little help from my friends"
The track with a "little help from my friends" was orginally released on the album "sgt. pepper's lonely hearts club band" in 1967, and was included in the soundtrack to the yellow submarine film. the song was written by paul mccartney and john lennon and preformed by ringo starr.
a charming song if not the most memorable; i liked the song well enough, but there was an feeling in the back of my head that the song was missing something. then i watched the film WOODSTOCK: THREE DAYS OF PEACE AND MUSIC, and heard a cover of the song performed by joe cocker...I had found what the song was missing: SOUL.
joe cocker's voice rang out for miles over the heads of thousands people that morning, accompanied by music the ROCKED with banging drums and sweet screaming rhythem guitars. cocker's spastic and trance-like movements were almost hypnotic, channeling in to the music (as well as an obscene amount of wine and marijuana). soul and heart can make all the difference in a song.

folk at the café
A picture I took of folk musician Ellis Paul performing at the Sunday acoustic series at the University Café. If you're into acoustic/folk music, check universitycafe.org to see if there's a show coming up one Sunday. It's a great way to spend an afternoon, and I guess I'm biased as I help out with the series and my father is the organizer of it. You never know what's going on if you don't seek it out!

/FUTURE

Tonight, I went to go to Mercy Mercedes and Stereo Skyline and it was amazing. Some of you probably heard of them, most of you haven't, but they are underground bands so tickets are pretty inexpensive. It's such a great energetic atmosphere. You get to feed off people's energy and they feed off yours. Also, it is a great way to meet new people and make friends with the people in the bands.
I hope for the future that I can somehow be part of the music industry/music world. If I could do one thing for the rest of my life, it would be going to concerts and just living every day of my life doing what I enjoy!
