how to turndown interview...

The other day I had an interview with Target for their management training position. I first made the mistake of handing them my resume at the job fair on campus. That set my up for an interview at the career center. I made the appointment to interview with them because in the back of my mind I remember people telling me to take whatever you can get because there are no jobs out there. But I dont know what happened to the workforce now because I am getting hit with job offers left and right! so after I made the appt. the career center won't let you cancel. So i got stuck going to an interview for 90 min at 930AM! I get there and there are like 5 other students there ready to interview. The career center has a separate area for interviews and separate rooms for one on one. They tell me I will have 2 interviews and if the director is not too busy then I might get a 3rd interview....I go through with the 1st one where she basically tells me about the position. I am sitting there saying agreeing to everything she is saying but I really do not think this job is right for me. Working so hard in school for 4 years at a great university I really do not think a career in retail is where my future lays. She tells me the job is m-f and some saturdays and holidays and about a 50+ hr workweek.
YEAH RIGHT?! peace out! I dont want this job. ! working long hours and getting paid minimum salary!
So going into the next interview I just blew it off... I showed no interest in the position. I totally blew the interview that when I answered a question the guy (who by the way was very rude) would arch his brow and be like what?
I leave the room and they say we will go over the answers and see ifyou qualify for the position and then we will get back to you in 7 business days. I sit in the waiting room to see if I am done. and some lady goes into the room i just came out of and says "so how did we do" and shuts the door. She comes back out saying to me "so it looks like the director is busy and will not have time to interview you for a 3rd interview so you can leave". and hands me a suffed target dog. What she was obv. saying was "you do not qualify and therefore you do not go ahead to the next interview." I really should just stopped in the middle of the interview process and turn the offer down. but it was more fun this way to just blow the interview.

newsday interview!

So I got an interview with Newsday! I had the interview with the HR at their headquarters in melville. it went great and he offered me 3 potential career positions.
I applied for newsday at the job fair a couple weeks ago. It finally paid off, because i came all the way out from stony and skipped class to go to that job fair. Anyway, he offered me a position for their sales planner, in the advertising dept. a position in the Community team to do promotions. and a position within the interactive marketing dept. Next step is to apply online and to set up an interview with the manager. I really do want this job. it is something i would love doing and it is near home.

Interviews after interviews!

So just when I thought that the job markets were slowing down, and I wasn't going to find a job after graduation.... bamm! I get calls for 4 interviews all in the same week! I am really only looking forward to two of them. I love marketing which is what those jobs are about, while the other two jobs are management positions. I am really excited and I hope I get one of these. The only problem I keep running into is the fact that I have a limited access to a car. I share a car with my mom, and I live on campus. This week I was able to take the car and drive to my interviews but I can't keep the car here all semester.
This stirred up the idea in my dad's head that I need my own car. On Saturday my dad texted me and told me to start looking at cars.! woohoo!
Anyway, back to interviews. I had one last friday and it went great. I got there early. Once it was 9AM they made me wait 15 min in the waiting room. I got to read some binders on the company which was good, but then the interview went so fast, I was done in 15-20 min.
Next interview is tomorrow at 9:30am on campus. Target is conducting recruitment interviews all day. They consist of two - 45 min team interviews. that is 90 min long! I cannot image all the info that needs to be discussed in an hour and half.
After that I have to go home and prepare for an interview on Friday near home with Newsday. Then I have anothe interview with a small LI marketing consulting firm. anyways wish me luck!

first interview

I just had my first interview today. I drove to the office and got there 15 min early. I rang the door bell like the sign says to and i got no response. I am standing outside in the windy morning and I am getting cold. I then rang it again and I got a response this time. The lady on the other line says "hi" and I say Hi back. She was expecting me to state my reason for being there and I just stood there. She then replies "who are you!?" in a rude manner.
I say "stephanie, i'm here to interview with ed."
She comes to open the door for me. I was a little annoyed that I got treated that way just to get into the interview. She insures me that she told Ed i was there and he will be with me. It is now 950 and I sit down waiting in the waiting room. I look around and see a binder full of information. I take a glance at it and before I know it it is 915! Ed finally comes out and greets me with no sorry for being late. Whatever. Now im more annoyed.
But i have to brush all emotions aside and put on a "happy to be here face".
I go flying through the interview... he tells me that I did great and he will set up another interview at a different location. He asked me to sign a criminal background check and all that so I think i pretty much got the job. I just wrote him a thank you letter through email and he hasn't emailed me when the next interview will be but hopefully it will go just as well.

phone interview..is just the beginning

with all these technologies we go through a big process just to get the job we want.

I first posted my resume on the website www.monster.com using the internet.
Then I received an email from a company telling me to call or email them back about a position they have for me.
Next I go to the job fair and see the man who emailed me and talk to him from there.
He emails me back that day and asks to set up a phone interview.
I email back with my availability.
He confirms the date and time through an email.
I receive a phone call from him.
He concludes with requesting a face to face interview.
I now have to go to see him and another top manager on friday to interview again!
I get an email to comfirm the phone interview and next week's face to face interview.
I email him back with a Thank you email.

*So exhausted already! and i don't have the position yet!
*plus, the email stated that this friday will be my FIRST interview.
