I love videogames and football and beating guys up.. i love to wrestle and play fight. its kinda like a lil pupy :) .. i hate losing tho.. its a good thing i dont lol but when i do (once in a blue moon) i hate it .. i hate to be made to feel inferior to guys and especially my boyfriend who is the BIGGEST sore winner EVERR! so basically the point of this rant is to say that i love to be one of the guys but dont rub it in my face when i lose :)) basically lol im bored n i have so much schoolwork to do n make my schedule n everythng but this is what im doing with my time :) so now imma go try to be productivee. xo goodluckk makin schedulesss. <3

ahhh, insane
I'm stuck trying to finish up an assignment for my 6:50 class tonight (and my internet keeps dropping whilst I need it, of course) so I can't even make it over to help set up for the showing tonight at Wang! I'm so over busy work, this is crazy. I hope everyone has a good time tonight, and I wish I could be there, but clearly annotated bibliographies are more important. Ugh!

Meal Points
The whole entire meal points system at stony brook is complete bogus.. you pay $17,000, for 14,000 meal points.. hmm.. now where does that work out. It doesn't work out! plain and simple, your getting scammed! Nothing in this world is free, nothing is a non-profit, everything is a profit hungry machine. Schools goals are to make money, to get more students, so are prisons.

the awkward past
I took two friends of mine who are studying abroad at Stony this semester into Port Jefferson for lunch today, and we went to eat at a place I go to quite a bit, and for the second time in a month, I've seen a girl from my high school graduating class working there. This is someone who I was never particularly close with, but we're friends on Facebook (her add - like this means anything, of course) and never had any bad blood between each other. Yet, every single time I go in there and she's there, she completely ignores me. In fact, I'm pretty sure she'll switch with someone in case she's supposed to take the table I'm at.
Now, unless there's some event that took place I'm unaware of where we had some massive falling out from our indifferent acknowledgment of each other that resulted in us still being Facebook friends, I'm left a bit confused by this entire situation. We catch each others eyes, and then turn away quickly and make ourselves busy with something else. It makes for an altogether awkward situation and I wish it wasn't that way. Even a "Hey! How are you?" would suffice, I reckon - but oh well. It doesn't surprise me, I was always treated like a second class citizen in high school since I wasn't wearing Abercrombie & Fitch and getting drunk off wine coolers with my fellow classmates on the weekends. So, maybe this is for the best. But still, it would be nice if next time I go in there I get a smile instead of being ignored.

Time is going by so fast... too fast
It seems as if these weeks are flying by... Here we are a late Thursday night, another week done for me. This is the 5th week already. Exams are just about done for a couple weeks, but soon enough it will be round 2. I don't have time to just sit and relax, I'm constantly moving and doing something. My life revolves around school, work, homework, friends, and sleep which is optional of course. I get this annoying feeling. If I decide to relax a few minutes something immediately pops in my head, blogs, hw, studying, etc. I just wish I could not think about anything for a few hours. But I know that this will all pay off eventually, I just need a break!!

Obama: more school please....
i was reading this article on yahoo news this morning while i was supposed to be doing work. basically, obama wants to add class time, schools to open on the weekend and for longer hours during the weekday. he says that american kids don't spend enough hours in school and this puts them at a disadvantage with students from around the world. i remember when i was in elementary school and my hours were 8 am to 3:30 pm and then we had after school so that ended at 6pm. i was in school for 10 hours and this was elementary school. i had a shorter school day in my high school years. i can see where obama's coming from, but how many hours does he expect kids to be in school? adding class time won't really help if the kids are bored and not paying attention. if they're counting down the time until school ends, and not focusing on what's being taught, then this whole idea is a waste of money and time.

/READING
Wow, it's Wednesday already. Again, week by week. It's flying by. It's the END of week 4 already. Soon enough, it's time for finals! AHH, stress stress stress.
This week was somewhat different from last week, which is good. I hate when all the weeks feel the same. I actually did my work, not at the end of the week. I read my book for EUR201 but it's really confusing. Has anyone read Rabelais' Gargantua? Some chapters in that book are actually somewhat interesting but then when it starts getting into Latin language, it gets really really confusing. I still need to read 100 pages before I finish the whole book. I need to finish it by the weekend. Then I need to read for soc and hui. YAY FOR READING!

the next step
I'm currently on the search for Graduate school now. My dad wouldn't let me hear the end of it if I didn't go to Grad school, as he is an educator of 30+ years and wants me to be just as educated as I can possibly be. I'm incredibly lucky that I have parents that care so much about my education, and are willing to pay for my higher education (including my upcoming Grad work).
The schools I'm looking at right now are:
London School of Economics
University College London
Goldsmiths College (London)
University of Toronto
York University (Toronto)
University of Southern California
NYU
Stockholms Universitet
A bit of a variety here, and I'm really only leaving NYU in for "only if I need to" since I've decided I need to earn my Grad degree outside of the state (and possibly country). I'm looking to go into media studies with an emphasis on political science, and these schools offer opportunities to study this. I guess we'll see...

the testing system
Since I entered the schooling system as a five year old, I have always been a horrible test taker. I find it to be such a stressful experience, and unnatural environment to see what you have learnt from a certain situation. I love learning, and I understand that of course there has to be a way to examine what someone has taken from a class, but I find it unfair that a system that some people can succeed at with ease can be so detrimental to people that have learnt as much, but maybe can't express themselves the same way through the testing system.
I have a huge problem with the SAT system as well, and hated trying to memorize certain techniques that would hopefully come up in the exam. Is this really how we're judging kids today? How fair is it that someone who could bullshit their way through a standardized test could get a spot in College over someone who might be just as or even more intelligent? I really think this is why there is such a high college dropout rate (aside from economics), because the way in which we are "prepared" is bogus - and the thought process is much different as you advance in education, except that bloody testing system will always remain. Ridiculous.
