College & Pre-determined Education

So they throw us right into the education system from a young young age.. preschool, being the first actual stage of education (i think at least), then elementary school, middle school, high school, college, and yikes, graduate schools. As we get older and more mature we are given more freedom within the school system, and we aren't even required to go past a certain point... but why do we stop there? Why isn't it required to get a college education in the same way it is to graduate high school (in most states at least). I think we are headed in that direction.. but then whos to say it will stop there? What if 100 years from now we will be forcing students to graduate with a masters? I don't think its that bad of an idea... you may say its insane, we need higher educations to distinguish young people from one another.. in order to pick out that more qualified contestant in the job scene.. but is that really fair? Not everyone who is capable is able to go as far as they'd like to in school.. I guess that's because its human nature.. Survival of the fittest, desire to succeed- beyond one's peers.. one way or another i guess we will always have to incorporate that into our evolution of mankind.
