Long Island Drivers

Can you please tell me why Long Island drivers find it neccessary to roll up to a red light. They begin to break like 1000 ft from the light and continue to roll at 2 mph to the light. I don't know if they hope it will turn green so they don't have to stop but come on now. Learn how to drive! It is so annoying being behind someone like this and it happens all the time. On my way home it happened 3 times and I only have a 15 min. trip. I am a Long Islander myself but I know better than to drive the person behind me crazy.
