D the vampire hunter

D the last vampire is a anime film, one that had a great story to me. The animation wasn't the best but it didn't take away from the story nor tone of the film. Ths film takes place in a time of its' own. There was a time when vampires ruled the night and humans for that matter however in recent times the vampires began to die off and humans are taking back the land. As the numbers of vampires (and other creatures of the darkness for that matter) begins to decrease, human communities are beginning to rise. With this there are certain people who took up the profession of being vampires hunter, bounty hunters, who kill vampires for pay. Among these hunters there is one who goes by the name of D who is said to be among the best if not the best. Anyway a vampire awakens (he isn't your small time vampire who prey on the weak for blood just to survive he's one of the more powerful vampires who lived during the reign of vampires under the rule of the legendary Dracula). he put himself in a century long sleep for no other reason then being bored (if you live forever I guess you can get tired of living and can take crazy naps like that). He wakes up and decides he feel likes having fun and that he want some female attention to which he tell his henchmen (one among them being him daughter who is also a vampire but not a pure blood like him) to fetch this one specfic girl he wants (for so reason she caught his eye and although a vampire he is a man after all). Apparently this is what he do when he's bored, he take a girl and have her for who know how many years until he gets bored and move on to whatever it is vampires do (and really who can stop him). He's a old school vampire of pure blood whom true powers have matured. What he don't know is that D (yea the vampire Hunter) was given the job to protect her. As the anime continued we find out that D have a talking hand (don't ask) and is a vampire as well (well at least half vampire). And like these stories go he kills the vampires and save the girl. So just how do this half vampire kill this old school vampire you ask, well appreantly he's the son of Dracula, and therfore holds power superior to other vampires. The whole setting of the film and back story of the anime was interesting, and the character of D cool and interesting. I really enjoyed this film and some of the elements came off as fresh and new.
