My Grammar

I hate being incorrect on grammar and I also have a pet peeve for people who do it on a regular basis. Today, I was chatting with a close friend via instant messaging, and she poked fun at me when i typed in "instable". Later on on a long run, I realized that I had typed in "instable" because of the word "instability". Instable then, came as a combination of the words instability and unstable. So the question that comes next naturally is: Why couldn't we simply choose one of the two prefixes? Really, sometimes the people who came up with these grammatical rules, had far too much time on their hands. Oh the effects of agriculture...
