#balloonboy
I just got home from my last class of the week, and I've only been away from my computer for about 3 hours, but as soon as I got back I went on twitter and saw that most of the trending topics included the terms "balloon boy" and "save balloon boy". A 6 year old in Colorado has disappeared from an experimental balloon aircraft (the balloon landed without a basket attached which he was apparently in) and the "twitterverse" has absolutely exploded over this, and people have figured out that the mother of this boy was once on the show Wife Swap. It wouldn't surprise me if a clip of this show is released in the next few minutes, literally. It's amazing the speed at which we collect news today and how people have congregated around this story on twitter, as they do with other breaking stories. I find the entire development in this exchange between people and media in this day and age. I fear this story is going to end on a sad note, but the twitterverse is still staying optimistic.
