Coming out is a unique experience for every homosexual. For some it's much harder than others.
A very close friend of mine recently began coming out and it has been less than easy. When he first told me it was super emotional mostly because he was terrified that I along with the rest of our friends would not accept him as a person or at least treat him differently because of his sexuality. He also confessed to me that he sort of hated himself which was even more surprising.
*****It then dawned on me that some of the best people think the absolute worst of themselves*****
He had successfully broadcast "normal" societal hate of homosexuals onto himself and became blinded to the warmth and overall goodness of his heart and personality. After reminding him that BEING GAY is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of, he (in the course of a week) came out to the majority of our friends.
