Why did summer go away so fast?

I remember last year I was able to go surfing here on LI through the middle of November no problem. I basic long sleve wetsuit kept me comforatable, the sun was shining and everyhting was great. This summer was cold and wet, and then winter decided to kick the door in come barging through. I know it isn't that bad yet, but I get cold easily due to poor circulation and I feel as though I have been completely robbed of my summer. I am moving. I just decided... someplace warm...that is where I will be.
