8: Heavy Metal 1981
rotoscope is one of the most time consuming, tedious, and overall irratating animation procedures ever devised; but the results speak for themselves. its about as realistic as you can get without the use of CGI and has produced successes (The Last Unicorn, Flight of Dragons)and failures(The Hobbit). combine rotoscope along with some infuencial heavy metal bands in history, and pepper it with the voices of John Candy, Eugene Levy, and John Vernon, and you have one of the most brutal animated films ever devised. the films follows the stories of trajedy and pain throughout the universe caused by the Loc-Nar. the film is the quitessential list of teenage boy fantasies, riddled with ray-guns, warrior amazons, space cruisers, and sword slingers. theres little for me to say about the plot(s) of the film, not because its lacking, but becuase there are some many of them and to fully explain each one would take a very very long time.
The film is twisted, brutal, psychedelic, and an absolute mind-wank. trust me when i say don't bother with the re-make...just thinking about it turns my stomach. if you are a fan of metal, buy this movie for the soundtrack alone, and if you a fan of perversion, i don't think i need to tell you what this film is good for.
