involvement fair

So the other day was the involvement fair, where all the clubs and organizations on campus set up tables and gain your interest to join something. They usually have the fair outside in the SAC Plaza, but due to the weather they brought it inside the SAC. They split up all the clubs into 3 rooms; the Ballrooms A and B and the Auditorium. I knew from the beginning which table I wanted to go to. I wanted to join ballroom dancing. I went with my friends and the first table we saw was on accidental. My sister and I ran into an old friend from freshman year. He is now the President of the Community service Club. He told us all about their club, "People helping People", and how they go on the weekends to clean up beaches, etc. I figured I don't have a job and usually have nothing to do on the weekends that I should sign up. This is great too, because I don't do a lot of community service. If anyone is interested they meet every week on Tuesday 5:30-6:30pm @ James college in H. So now feeling good about signing up to help others and still on a hunt looking for ballroom dancing, we run into another volunteering organization, Habitat for humanity club. The club focuses on helping the habitat for humanity organization, by volunteering in making homes for the underprivileged families and creating fundraisers to help raise money for the future homes. Last year the club helped build a home in Shirley. The club goes on Saturdays and spends a whole day doing real manual labor. Sounds fun, so we signed up. Next room, now. We find a business club. I never knew we had one. It is called Business Leaders of Stony Brook. Actually it was another accidental move. I walked in and saw my friend sitting behind a table. He is the President of the Bowling club. (yes, they have a club for everything). So I was talking to him and saw the table next to him was the business club. Anyway, we signed up for the business club and they meet in the sac 308 on mondays 7-8pm to boast your resumes, workshops, meet recruiters, etc. Finally, we get to the ballroom dancing club. I sign up and find out that their meetings are Wednesdays 8-10 in the union! I have class 650-950! I can't even make the practices. But I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Oh well, I did join some other great clubs!
